Hankaku/Zenkaku key is not properly recognized

    Details

      Description

On Windows with its native natural language IME being enabled, the key code for the IME activation key (namely, "Hankaku/Zenkaku" key on Japanese keyboard with the default configuration, but it is configurable) is reported as two different keycode to the browser event handlers (keydown and keyup) depending on the input mode enabled at the time the key is pressed (like a composition initiation key).

The patch proposed by guacamole-client#320 adds an option to the user preferences and corresponding property to the public API that lets Guacamole send the single correct key code (which is what the remote desktop expects) for those key codes. This patch was rejected due to the nature of the API changes suggested and the hack itself, but the original problem remains.

Addressing this issue, regardless of solution, will depend on GUAC-1410 (Japanese keymap support) for supporting the "Hankaku/Zenkaku" key within Guacamole's RDP client. The "Hankaku/Zenkaku" key will not be recognized otherwise.
